What is the Warsaw City Card?

The Warsaw City Card (Warszawska Karta Miejska, WKM) is the official transit card of the Warsaw Public Transport Authority, which you use to pay for rides on the metro, tram, bus and SKM train across Warsaw and the surrounding area. It is issued by ZTM in partnership with Metro Warszawskie.

The card is free and personalised — you register it with your own details. You can load it with a time-based ticket (30-day or 90-day) and ride unlimited for its whole validity. Warsaw also supports contactless payment (Open Payment) — with a bank card or phone (Apple Pay, Google Pay) directly at the gates, without needing a WKM.

You get the card free once you register. Below you will find how to top up your ticket and how to check your balance.

You can also board the metro or a tram with a contactless bank card or phone — the fare is charged automatically (pay-as-you-go, no WKM needed). For discounts and travel passes, though, the WKM is the better option.
